Cindy Williams, born Cynthia Jane Williams on August 22, 1947, was an American actress known for her memorable roles in both film and television.

Cindy Williams was born in Van Nuys, Los Angeles, California.

Her family moved to Dallas when she was a year old and returned to Los Angeles when she was ten years old.

She had a sister named Carol Ann.

During her childhood, she wrote and acted at a church and later participated in productions at Birmingham High School, where she graduated in 1965.

She attended Los Angeles City College, majoring in theater.

Williams began her professional career by landing national commercials, including ones for Foster Grant sunglasses and TWA.

Her early television roles included appearances on shows like Room 222, Nanny and the Professor, and Love, American Style.

Williams met Penny Marshall, and they became comedy writers at Francis Ford Coppola’s Zoetrope company.

In 1975, Williams was cast as Shirley Feeney, a fun-loving brewery bottle capper, in an episode of Happy Days, alongside Penny Marshall as her best friend and roommate, Laverne De Fazio
